Born 1984 into a family of well known musicians of this gharana, Arshad is the grandson of Sarangi maestro, Padmashree Ustad Shakoor Khan. He undergoes rigorous traning from his maternal uncle, Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan, respected guru at the Academy, and also from Mashkoorji's younger brother, Ustad Mubarak Ali Khan.
Beginning his days at the Academy more than a decade ago as a child with an ability to learn the bubtler nuances of vocalism at remarkable speed and efficiency, Arshad was fortunate enough to have grown up and studied in this elite atmosphere surcharged with the presence of great gurus from the major gharanas as well as an incredible collection of the best music of the maestros of the past.
