This is a well known marriage song, but one with a twist. Not only does the father have to give away Suchitra Sen to her new husband and household, but so does Dev Anand. Even though he loves her and she loves him, and even though she now knows he's not her brother, to earn redemption for what he had done earlier he has to give her up. This was a very emotional period in a very fine film.
